November 6, 2008.

It has been an interesting Autumn with eyes and ears glued to the various elections (municipal, federal and USA), so cutting glass is a fine distraction.  We are busy stocking for the holiday season, trying to guess what our customers may want to buy to give to their family and friends.

This week we received an order from Gillis Pewter so now we have a great selection of picture frames, earrings, and pendants in their wonderful designs.

More new glass coming soon.

September 1, 2008.

For many folks this is really the beginning of the year; the end of summer holidays and the start of a new school year. In the Shoppe we continue to meet people who are on vacation, still enjoying summer which really only officially ends on September 21st.

Autumn and the end of the summer season is often the best time in this
area, wonderful weather and beautiful colours, very inspirational.

And the creations continue at Village Glassworks.  Our most recent panel, Red Rose in Vase, now hangs in the front window.
August 2, 2008.

Summer is well underway at Village Glassworks.  We have a new lamp to feature, Floral Sunrise
which is presently hanging in our front window for anyone who is driving by to see.  It looks brilliant all lit up!

We have also been working on some new panels including the Red Sunflower.  If you are in New Germany this summer drop by for have a visit and check out our newest creations.

June 13, 2008.

It is truly Spring and soon officially Summer in New Germany and at Village Glassworks.  The sun is warming us and the flowers are blooming.
In the shoppe we have some new panels
and a

 new lamp to feature.
April 25, 2008.

Last Sunday we went for a drive to the Annapolis Valley (eastern end) to pick up more stock for the shoppe.  It was a beautiful day with many signs of Spring.

First stop was to the Sunshine Soap Co.where there was a box of lovely scented  soaps and a very cute line of children's soap waiting for us.

Second on the list was Postma Pottery. The Pottery has been around for many years, so many of you may be familiar with the style.  We are excited to have both lines!

March 20, 2008.

Happy first day of Spring.  Can tulips be far behind?

Although the weather isn't the best in New Germany, we have received more new stock at the Shoppe.  Our newest is glycerin soaps in great scents and fun colours from The Uptown Tub.
.

We are also busy making new glass creations for the front window including a new "Tumbling Flowers" panel and a new hanging lamp, Cohen's Cone, in blue / purple tones, colours very much like the Colour of 2008 "Blue Iris".

March 7, 2008.

It's a beautiful sunny day here at Village Glassworks, the kind of day that makes you excited for Spring to arrive. I spent the morning with some very cheery women, having the pleasure of explaining to them how we create all our stained glass designs and use all the wonderful colours of glass in our
shoppe.

And speaking of the shoppe, we attended ACTS in February and some of the products we ordered are starting to arrive.  This week we received a box from Blue Flag, a company making candles.  We were very excited to open the box and unwrap the new palm wax candles and get them out on the shelves.

February 1. 2008.

It's February already.  It is a great time of the year for new designs and to work on custom orders.

This week we have finished a new heart design and have some 3-D dancing hearts on display in the shoppe.

This is just the cheery, fun work we enjoy in the winter!

January 6, 2008.
Happy New Year all.  Hope you enjoyed a pleasant holiday, family, friends, good food, all the trimmings.

At Village Glassworks we are busy counting inventory and thinking about the yearly bookkeeping tasks.  We also have visions of all the new stained glass designs we want to create this year.

And looking ahead to the next "retail holiday" Valentine's Day.  Hearts are great fun to make in stained glass, you don't have to limit yourself to just red or pink, hearts come in many colours. We will feature some of our designs over the next few weeks.
December 21, 2007.

We are extending our hours for all the Christmas shoppers who still need to purchase a lovely crafted gift for someone special.

We had more snow yesterday so it is really looking like Christmas at Village Glassworks in New Germany.

The shoppe will be closing early on Christmas Eve, re-opening in January, probably around the 15th.  We will be available by appointment between December 27th and when we open, so please call if we can help you.

Merry Christmas and all the best for a wonderful 2008!
December 3, 2007.

We have an interesting new product in our shoppe, hand turned spurtles.  What is a spurtle?  "A traditional Scottish wooden kitchen tool used to stir porridge, soups and more."

Our spurtles have been turned using Lunenburg County hardwood and finished with a food-safe mineral oil.

It is great fun seeing customer reaction when we get in something new. Watch for more turnings coming soon.

November 29, 2007.

A selection of Round Hill Pewter jewellery (from Bridgetown, Nova Scotia)  just arrived in the mail.  It is just like Christmas for the shoppe, receiving orders, opening them and looking at all the new items.  Included a couple of new designs such as a Canada Goose pin and the Comedy/Tragedy earrings, as well as the traditional designs in earrings (both dangle and studs), necklaces and pins.

November 14, 2007.

This weekend the first snow of the season fell on Village Glassworks putting us into holiday mode.  We found the garlands and Christmas lights.  The autumn display was replaced and the Christmas suncatchers were hung on the tree in the front window.  There is more to do, but it was a start.
